About Dr. Johnson

Dr. Kim Johnson

I was employed by the Paulding County School System for twenty-five years and retired in May 2022. My passion is education and hope to continue meeting the educational needs of students. I graduated from Mercer University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education, completed my Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction (Coppin State University), my Masters of Science in Educational Administration (Scranton University), and my doctorate in Teaching and Learning with an emphasis in curriculum & instruction. My dissertation "The Effects of Autism on Families and Educators, a Case Study" was completed and published in January 2006.

I am happily married to a retired US Army Master Sergeant.  We have three children.  My daughter is a U.S. Army veteran, and a graduate of Liberty University and blessed me with my grand-daughter on St. Patrick's Day 2014. My oldest son is also an Army  veteran and a graduate of Liberty University. I will be gaining a daughter-in-love in November 2023. Our youngest son is a 2017 graduate of Paulding County High School, enlisted in the U.S. Army prior to graduation and is serving in the Georgia Army National Guard.

My passion is US History and shortly after the passing of my father, discovered that I share a grandfather with President Thomas Jefferson. Completely explains why I love Monticello and the Jefferson Memorial.  Several summers ago I spent 7 days participating in the George Washington Teacher's Institute and living at Mount Vernon (George Washington's farm).  Oh what fun!  I participated in the Teaching American History (TAH) grant through Paulding County Schools through the duration of the grant and had the pleasure of several summer field trip experiences including Williamsburg, Virginia (colonization), New York City (immigration), Harper's Ferry, multiple Civil War Battlefields, Montgomery to Selma, and Birmingham (Civil Rights).

Mission For Education

My mission as a teacher, instructor, and facilitator is to make every child feel worthwhile, to instill in them a desire to learn and reach their full potential.  Everyday I will treat students with respect, show compassion and strive to understand their needs.  I will be responsible for maintaining high expectations for each of the students and I will hold all students responsible for meeting these expectations.  I will be in attendance every day to teach and I will expect students to be at school every day to learn.  I will focus on the abilities and strengths of my students and influence them in positive ways so that students' lives are forever changed.

"I believe that children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way. Show them all the beauty they possess inside."
